VIQ Solutions holds the transcription contracts for the Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit and Family Court. In 2025-2026, two separate ABC News investigations documented governance failures that define precisely the gap this product addresses.
At least one appeal was dismissed on the basis of a defective transcript. A person's legal outcome was determined by a transcription failure that a certified governance workflow would have caught before the record was finalised.
A chain-of-custody failure at the most fundamental level: the institution did not know where its own data was. This constitutes a breach of the EU AI Act's Article 13 logging requirements, operative since August 2025.

EU AI Act
Article 13 mandates transparency and chain-of-custody logging for high-risk AI systems. Court transcription of proceedings affecting individual rights is explicitly in scope.

VLRC: AI in Courts
Victorian Law Reform Commission report recommending structured governance frameworks for AI deployed in Australian courts, including independent audit and certification requirements.
US Federal Rule of Evidence 707
Would require machine-generated evidence to satisfy Rule 702 - the expert testimony standard. Uncertified AI transcription would be inadmissible in US federal courts.

TRP Certification is not a self-assessment checklist. It is an independently audited, annually renewed mark that tells a court: this vendor's governance architecture has been verified against six objective criteria by a structurally independent body.
